Spencer has been playing alto saxophone for 19 weeks now. Yesterday he performed at an open Mic night at our church. He played ain’t misbehavin and fly me to the moon. He sounded great. Take a listen for yourself.
We celebrated Meg’s birthday this year with a surprise party / sleepover. She requested a surprise party this year. Every once in awhile we would ask her what kind of cake she wanted or something, and she would reply “I’m not having a party this year, unless someone throws me a surprise party ;).” The surprise mostly worked, although some of her friends spilled the beans during school. Clare led the girls in making bath bombs. Sarah did the girls nails. We had pizza and got out the chocolate fountatin. They all had a great time.
For her actual birthday Dave and Ellen came over and we had ravioli and lemon cake with chocolate frosting.
Spencer turned 9 yesterday! On Monday we had a party at Boondocks fun center with his friends. Yesterday we celebrated at home. He wanted to make grilled cheese and an ice cream cake, so that is what we did. He is getting pretty good at making grilled cheese.
We had a bit of a fight about going to sax lessons on his birthday, but eventually he acquiesced, and his teacher taught him happy birthday, which he picked up quite quickly
This year we stayed home at Christmas but traveled to Michigan over New Year’s to visit Grandma and Grandpa Felty. We had a great time seeing them, as well as Aunt Erika and cousin Sadie. We also found time to see the van Kampens, the Moores, and the Sanchez’s.
In addition to enjoying the pool at the Hampton Inn and hanging out at the grandparents playing Clue and Hell, we also found time to visit the Henry Ford museum and the Detroit Institute of the Arts.
